UCC, University of Leicester Deepen Academic Ties
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Aheto, has received the Director of Internationalisation at the University of Leicester, UK, Prof. Kofi E. Boakye.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Aheto, has received the Director of Internationalisation at the University of Leicester, UK, Prof. Kofi E. Boakye.
The meeting touched on academic issues of shared interest, including enhancing joint research initiatives, teaching, and promoting student and staff exchanges.
They also addressed ways to support their developmental priorities, mutual interests, and the prosperity and well-being of their students and staff.
During the dialogue, Prof. Boakye discussed the fraternal ties between the two universities and indicated that the University of Leicester, recognized as a world-leading institution, brings expertise in the fields of space technology, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and precision medicine.
“The University of Leicester is also renowned for its legacy of impactful research in law, criminology, and forensic science, including the invention of DNA fingerprinting, which revolutionized global crime investigation,” he added.
For his part, Prof. Aheto expressed gratitude to Prof. Boakye for the visit.
He said the UCC was ready to collaborate with the University of Leicester in areas of joint research initiatives, teaching, and promoting student and staff exchanges.
Prof. Aheto observed that UCC had a Department of Forensic Sciences with a track record in Ghana, including conducting Police Exams for personnel within the Police Service.
