PURC Donates Computers to Institute of Oil and Gas

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has donated computers to Institute of Oil and Gas, UCC to enhance teaching, learning, research and administrative activities.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has donated Information and computers to the Institute of Oil and Gas, University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) , to enhance teaching, learning, research and administrative activities.

The donation, which forms part of PURC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) included 10 desktop computers and two laptops.

The gesture is aimed at strengthening the technological capacity of the Institute and improving the delivery of academic and research programmes.

The donation was made during a working visit by the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, and a delegation from the University to the PURC headquarters.

Presenting the equipment, the Executive Secretary of PURC, Dr. Shafic Suleman, said the donation was a demonstration of the Commission’s commitment to supporting quality higher education and contributing to national development through strategic partnerships with tertiary institutions. He was hopeful that the equipment would contribute significantly to improved academic work, research output and operational efficiency at UCC.

Prof. Aheto expressed appreciation to PURC for the support, describing the donation as timely and valuable in advancing the University’s academic and research mandate. He noted that the gesture would contribute to improving the learning environment at the Institute of Oil and Gas while reinforcing collaboration between UCC and stakeholders in the energy sector.

The UCC delegation also used the occasion to congratulate Dr. Suleman, a Senior Lecturer at UCC, on his appointment as Executive Secretary of PURC by the President of the Republic of Ghana. The visit provided an opportunity for the two institutions to strengthen collaboration and discuss areas of mutual interest, particularly in energy, research partnerships and institutional development.

Members of the PURC delegation included Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Wallace Duodu,; Director of Regional Operations and Consumer Services, Alhaji Jabaru Abukari; Director of Research and Corporate Affairs, Dr. Eric Kofi Obutey; Director of Legal Services , Mrs. Nancy Atiemo; and Deputy Director of Water, Mr. Kwabena Adusei.

The University delegation comprised Acting Vice-Chancellor; Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq., Registrar; Mr. George Amfo-Antiri, Acting Director of Finance; Mr. Benedict Addo-Yeboa, Head of Electricity Section; and Administrative Secretary to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Alfred Ghartey.
