A Committee has been inaugurated to oversee the Research and Innovation Week (R&IW) and Research Awards and Grants (RAG) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

It is aimed at planning and coordinating the 2026 R&IW and RAG, an important institutional event that recognizes and rewards outstanding research achievements and innovation  among faculty members.

The R&IW and RAG also serve as a platform to showcase the University’s research excellence and foster a strong culture of innovation.

The committee is chaired by a staff member of Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) at UCC, Prof. Samuel Asiedu Owusu.

The rest are Prof. Francis Annor (DRIC), Mr. Felix Adu-Poku (Directorate of Public Affairs), Mrs Eunice Amoako-Mensah (D-Hub), Mrs. Lucy Mensah Adosi (DRIC) and representatives of Directorate of Internal Audit and the Procurement Section.

Other members of the committee are Dr. Akua Tiwaa Buabeng-Boateng, Mr. Isaac Nketsiah, Mrs. Eunice Nartey, Ms. Abena Serwaa Assibey, and Mr. Thomas Thompson, all of whom are staff members of DRIC.

The committee has been given a broad mandate to develop a comprehensive plan and timeline for the 2026 R&IW and RAG ceremony; design and oversee the call for application and nomination process.

The committee has been tasked to establish transparent evaluation and selection procedures as well as coordinate the review and assessment of submissions.

They are also expected to recommend awardees for approval by DRIC Management.

In addition, the committee would plan and organize the Awards Ceremony, Research Week activities, and Innovation Exhibition, as well as liaise with relevant units ( Finance, Procurement, Audit, and Public Affairs) to ensure compliance and effective delivery.

The chairperson of the committee, Prof. Owusu, expressed appreciation to the management of the University for the confidence reposed in them.

He said the committee was mindful of the scale and enormity of the assignment and would, therefore, ensure a well-coordinated R&IW and RAG ceremony.
